Instructions for using the budgeting worksheet:
You can use Microsoft® Excel, Numbers on a Mac, or online Google Sheets to edit the worksheet.
Select the cell you want to edit and add the amount. We have included the most popular items and categories but you can add even more by adding rows under each category. The totals are automatically calculated so you don't have to calculate those. Most of the information you need can be found on the monthly paper or online statements from your credit cards and/or bank accounts. Add those up and enter under each corresponding category. If for certain categories or items you don't have the exact number, feel free to use your best “guesstimate” until you have the actual information at hand. Then you can go back and revise. That way you'll make sure everything is accounted for.
That's all! Filling the first column of your spreadsheet is like taking the first step towards financial stability.
